Lazy Swim

Vienna based austrian object designer Laura Dominici and artist Basil Schu started collaborating in 2024. „Pool Bench“ was the first glimpse of their collaboration. The Bench grew into a whole collection, called ”LAZY SWIM“ - a collection of playful objects reminiscent of swimming scenes. A ladder leading out of a pool invites you to sit down. Neatly stacked towels reveal themselves as a seating sculpture stacked from paintings.

The Lazy Swim collection artistically explores places of longing, dream worlds and places of leisure. It uses the shapes and furnishings of a pool landscape and employs them as vocabulary. It reveals the Proustian character of objects, their ability to evoke memories or inspire dreams.

In their work, they focus on the everyday, and within that, particularly on people's relationship with objects. What value they attribute to them, what memories they associate with them, what details of an object can trigger these: a particular curve, a discolouration or a worn spot…
