Untitled III
Untitled III by Alex Kuznetsov
2024
Acrylic on canvas
43.25" x 35.5"
In a time when everything is loud, fast, and endlessly refreshed, Alex Kuznetsov makes paintings that do not want to speak quickly. They do not promise meaning, offer image, or strive for attention. Instead, they hold, they wait, and they accumulate.
This painting is part of Slow Silence, a series Kuznetsov names not as a metaphor, but as a method. Using an aluminum straightedge, he builds layered acrylic surfaces through repetition, friction, and constraint. His gestures are deliberate, slow, and resistant to immediacy.
In his work, painting is not a picture but a presence- a situation, a condition of being. Color becomes time, emptiness becomes weight, and silence becomes structure. These paintings are not decorative objects, they are tools for perceptual deceleration. To see them is not to recognize, but to dwell.
