This desolate, frigid series depicts a freak blizzard in 2008 at mount hotham, near where robert’s spent his teenage years in Victoria, Australia. roberts hints at a submerged world, a buried lake, roads and dwellings. To find no horizon, where the sky exactly matches the land, is rare. and Roberts tells the tale of being advised to throw away the negatives because the photographs would be too subtle. However roberts persisted, and the prints drew a very different reaction from critics. This series is testament to a subtle depth within the world that shouldn’t be overlooked.
